WE'RE NOT READY TO SING KUMBAYA TOGETHER...YET

06/22/2021

Racism, prejudice & bigotry is real, and so are the ugly sentiments & feelings that come with it. It's so deep rooted, some families thrive on it & carry if from generation to generation.

ALL of these are a form of hate or indifference, but some racists/bigots will SWEAR that they don't really hate anyone, but they feel that people of different races should not "mix,' or that they're the authority on how life should be. If you ever hear someone say that, take heed: you're in the company of a bigot or racist.

I could go on & on about racism & prejudice, because I have experienced it all of my life. However, I try not to give it too much time or dwell on it, because it is SUCH an ugly, absolute waste of time, and deserves no breath to give life to it. Those who have never experienced it tend to sometimes try to negate it, or deny that it even exists. Ask most any Black adult or person of color, or any person of a diverse life or background, and they can tell of at least one incident of racism, bigotry or hate they have experienced, whether it has been subtle or outright.

However, I will not let the ugly heart of others change MY heart, although at times, it can be VERY hard. Bold, brazen acts of hate can conjure up some pretty serious demons, even in the kindest of hearts, but you have to push those thoughts away; if not, you become like the very monsters that you resent. Instead, I will choose to pray & attempt to be a good, decent, kind person, accepting, understanding & loving of others, no matter what color, race, sexual orientation, background, political affiliation, etc. they are, because that is the opposite of what a racist or bigot is.

Who knows, one day all of us may be able to come together & sing "KUMBAYA," and really mean it.

BE BLESSED MY PEEPS!
